November 14, 2005, Walla, Walla, Washington: TSW (The Soda Works), a Washington State-based manufacturer of soda blasting equipment and materials/media distributor, today announced that ICI (Impatient Creations, Inc.), one of its newest media product customers, is relying more and more on soda blasting technology over traditional stripping methods to handle its core customer base. As a result, it has been steadily increasing its monthly demand for the Natrium soda product which TSW distributes on a national basis.
ICI is a known and widely respected specialist in automotive, antique and other specialty items restoration and refurbishing and has, by its own account, changed the way it does business. The company is increasing its margins and decreasing its reliance on environmentally-toxic chemicals and compounds once the mainstay of its automotive division.
According to Dennis Lyons, owner/operator of ICI, "Soda blasting is water soluble, non-hazardous and environmentally safe. It's highly effective for industrial and commercial cleaning applications by being abrasive enough to get the job done without harming the surface being cleaned." That his business' core product is handling customer's treasured items, it becomes essential to find products that provide solutions.
"Right now, I'm working on a 1949 Woodie. With a car like this, you can't afford to end up with the deep groves that sanding, dipping, stripping or light sand blasting would leave. For that matter, now that I am using soda blasting, I've replaced these techniques 100%. I don't want the effects these other methods have on any of our projects," says Lyons.
ICI has also realized the positive impact of saved time and labor on clean up and environmental impact by using soda rather than more familiar stripping and sanding processes. Lyons comments, "Environmental clean-up and awareness considerations have also created a demand for greener solutions. We find that by using the Natrium soda that The Soda Works carries, we not only save time on labor-intensive chemicals clean up, we meet the growing need for environmentally sound approaches."
